1. Did you always know you wanted to work in the medical field?

I’ve always known I wanted to work in the medical field. While I may not be directly involved in patient care, I still play a crucial role in the healthcare experience. From the moment I started at Texas Center for Proton Therapy, I found fulfillment in helping patients feel welcome and guiding them through the process of receiving treatment – the interactions I’ve had with patients and the healthcare professionals around me have solidified my passion for the field.

2. If you could tell prospective patients one thing about proton therapy, what would it be?

If I could tell prospective patients one thing about proton therapy, I would tell them to consider it! Proton therapy is an innovative and effective treatment that can provide patients with a better quality of life during and after their treatment.

3. What is your day-to-day role like working at Texas Center for Proton Therapy?

As a front desk employee at Texas Center for Proton Therapy, my day-to-day role is focused on ensuring that patients and their families have a smooth and positive experience from the moment they walk in. I assist with answering phones, answering questions, and providing any information they need about proton therapy. I also handle patient check-ins, and make sure that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately. I work closely with the medical team to ensure patients are promptly directed to the appropriate areas and that any special requests or needs are addressed. The role can be fast paced but knowing that I’m helping patients during their treatments and being a part of their healing journey makes it incredibly rewarding.

4. What has been the most impactful thing about working in the field of medicine?

The most impactful thing about working in the field of medicine has been witnessing the strength and resilience of patients as they navigate their healthcare journeys. Whether it’s a patient undergoing treatment like proton therapy or someone managing a long-term condition, seeing their courage in the face of challenges is incredibly inspiring. It reminds me every day of the importance of compassionate care and how even small acts of kindness and support can make a big difference. Additionally, being part of a team dedicated to improving patient outcomes and knowing that the work we do has a direct impact on people's lives brings a deep sense of fulfillment. It’s a reminder that the medical field isn’t just about science and technology—it’s about people and making sure they feel cared for and supported at every step.

5. What do you like to do in your free time outside work?

Outside of work, I enjoy a variety of activities that help me relax and recharge. I love spending time outdoors, whether it’s going for a hike, taking a walk in the park, or just enjoying a quiet day in nature. I also like to unwind with a good book or binge-watch some of my favorite shows. Connecting with friends and family is very important to me, so I often spend my free time hanging out with loved ones, whether it’s having a casual dinner together or just catching up. If I have some extra time, I enjoy exploring new hobbies or learning something new, like cooking a new recipe or diving into a creative project. It’s all about finding balance and making the most of my downtime!

6. Where is your favorite place you’ve ever visited?

One of my favorite places I’ve ever visited is the Dominican Republic. From the moment I arrived, I was in awe of the stunning beaches with their crystal-clear waters and soft white sand. The vibrant culture, rich in history and tradition, was evident in everything from the music to the food. I loved exploring the charming streets of Santo Domingo, the country’s capital, and soaking in the lively atmosphere. The warmth and hospitality of the people made my experience even more memorable, and I enjoyed trying local dishes like mangu and mofongo. Whether it was lounging on the beach or exploring the natural beauty of places like Punta Cana and the mountains, the Dominican Republic gave me a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure that I will always cherish.
